It Is Finished: A New Day Is Coming
May 16, 2000
A
PARALLEL EVENT
Yesterday
morning, my husband and I brought our eldest son to the airport as he was on his
way to Munich, Germany to start work in that country. All day long I felt like
something inside me was being cut away, and there was a void in my heart. I
initially thought that I was just missing our son, but the feeling continued to
linger on even up to this point.
While
I was praying about this, I could picture in my mind a hospital scene. It was
like I was on an operating table, and somebody was operating on me. I could see
the hands of the surgeon, and he seemed to be cutting away so many things from
me. I felt uncomfortable but at the same time, there was like a feeling of
relief sweeping over me. That relief came from my full confidence in the wisdom
and ability of the surgeon working with me. I knew that he knew what He is doing
and that all this was for my own benefit.
IT
IS FINISHED
This
morning, during my quiet time. I was reminded about Jesus while He was hanging
on the cross and He said these words, " IT IS FINISHED." (John 19:30)
After that, I felt led to read these words from Philippians 3:12-16 which says,
" Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made
perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of
me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one
thing I do; FORGETTING WHAT IS BEHIND AND STRAINING TOWARD WHAT IS AHEAD, I
press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And
if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Only LET US LIVE UP TO WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY ATTAINED."
GOD'S
MESSAGE TO US
Out
of these events and verses, the Lord began to weave a beautiful message to me.
As I was basking in them, I felt the leading to share these for I felt that
these are not exclusively for me but is meant for some in the body of Christ who
are finding themselves in the same place that I'm standing in today.
THE
FINISHED WORK
Following
in the footsteps of our wonderful Savior, many of God's wonderful children have
been walking on roads filled with dying to self. Difficult events, overwhelming
circumstances and acts of obedience to the Father's leading have marked the path
that we have walked and so many of us today are feeling just like Jesus
hanging on the cross and saying to the Father, "It is finished." We
are at that point where we have already given it our all, and there seem to be
nothing else that we can do or give at this point.
BEHIND
THE SCENE
We
may not see it, but great things are happening in the heavenlies. I felt led to
read from the account of the gospel of Matthew about this event, and these were
some of the impressions that I got.
"And
when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, He gave up His spirit. At that
moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth
shook and the rocks split." (Matthew 27:50-51)
This
very moment as we too shout our last to the Father, He too is shaking the earth
on our behalf. He is breaking loose the last thread that prevents His blessings
from being poured out on His people. The enemy is trying desperately to make us
believe that things are getting worse instead of getting better and THIS IS A
LIE.
The
shaking in the heavenlies is parallel to what we felt in our body and heart as
the Great Heavenly Surgeon is also cutting away from us the last barriers
that holds us back from entering into the glorious inheritance that He has
prepared for us.
A
LITTLE MORE TIME
God
is saying to us. " My Precious children, a little more time. Don't panic
and fear not. It is Me creating the void inside of you! For I'm preparing to
fill you up with more of Me. This is the final surgery that I'm doing in you.
Please bear with Me. Trust Me for I know what I'm taking away from you. My
scalpel will not hurt you, but when you come off of My table, you will be more
beautiful than ever. Let me finish what I've started in you."
PRAYER
OF SURRENDER
"Father,
we surrender everything to you. All that we've been trying to hold on to whether
negative or positive. Cut them from us.
Empty us completely of everything that is human, and fill us completely
with the new oil which you have prepared for us, the pure oil of Your anointing.
Let them flow into our deepest being. We long for You, O Lord, so much that our
hearts just feel like bursting forth. Thank you for the beautiful reconstruction
work that you are doing in us. We rest in You this day. Help us not to fret, but
teach us how to be still in You. We love you Father. Thank you, dear Lord Jesus,
for showing us the way. We know that resurrection will come after this dying. We
are looking forward to rising gloriously. We know that when we come forth from
our burial caves, we too will be changed. Precious Holy Spirit, continue to
hover over us. Be like a canopy and cover the places where we are now. Cover
everything too that concerns us, whether family, ministry, business and
everything that matters to us. Blow your gentle winds upon our way. Refresh our
soul as we wait for that new glorious day. Amen!"
May
all to whom these words are meant receive them, and may your hearts rejoice as
mine is rejoicing right now.
